Black Friday Extravaganza with Tawdra Kandle

Sometimes revenge is the only choice

Julia worked for weeks planning the perfect surprise birthday party for her boyfriend, Liam, but that night, she was the one who got the biggest shock. He broke up with her in front of all their friends, humiliating her in the process.

Clearly revenge was in order.

The plan is simple. Make him jealous, win him back, and then crush his heart. Fair is fair. However, there is one little hiccup, and he has curly brown hair and dimples.

Jesse is everything she wants. With him, she could almost forget her bruised heart. Almost. Julia has one choice: let Liam walk away after everything he did, or lose a chance at love in pursuit of payback.

My pick of the week:

 Book: This Side of Forever

Author: C. Marie Mosley

In the small town of Harden Fields, summer time seems to be the best time to set fire to old flames in this racy, heart-stopping romance.

Leaving Laney was a necessary fleet that he wishes he could take back, but staying away from her was never an option. Now, amidst his return, Jeremiah’s sole purpose is to win Laney’s trust back and to regain his forever at any cost.

COVER SPELL by T.A. Foster

Whew! I didn’t remember New Orleans being this hot on my last trip. I pulled my shirt away from my chest and fanned myself. The sun scorched my skin. I looked around for a cold drink.

“Cut! Cut! Cut!” The director’s voice boomed overhead. “You’ve got this all wrong. Let’s take a break and start over in thirty minutes.” The mob holding lights, microphones, and fans scurried like ants in all directions.

I jumped up from my seat, and made a dash for the drink cart tucked under one of the few umbrellas on the set. I let my hand linger a little too long in the ice bucket of sodas.

“Darlin’, you need some help cooling off?” The deep sexy voice and Texas drawl ebbed over my ears like a slow wave.

Startled, I pulled my hand out of the ice bucket, and with it, a Diet Coke. I laughed. “Yes, you caught me. I didn’t know it was going to be so hot today.”

He laughed and reached in front of me to grab a water, his arm barely grazing my stomach. “I take it you’re not used to being on a movie set? We’re in for the long haul today, darlin’.” He twisted the cap off the water bottle and chugged the sixteen ounces.

I watched him wipe the water off his full lips. “That obvious? Yeah, it’s my first time. I’m Ivy. Ivy Grace.” I smiled at the tall actor who had me smitten about five movies ago.

“The writer? I know who you are. I was just waiting for the director to yell ‘cut’ so I could walk over and say howdy to you.” His perfectly white teeth peeked through his lips.

I was smitten just a little bit more. It was the combination of the Texas accent and the perfect-teeth smile. He had warm gray-green eyes that lit up when he smiled. I liked the way he paused between his words and wasn’t afraid to look into my eyes, even if we were only talking about the weather.

The sweat trickling down the back of my neck was my cue to step away from the drink cart and America’s heartthrob, and perform a quick outfit change.

“Well, it was nice to meet you, Evan.” I wiped the palm of my hand off on my hip and held it out to him.

His hand clasped around mine. “Nice to meet you, Ivy. Catch you around?”

“Of course, looking forward to it.”

“Stay cool.”

Review of Christmas Catch by Chelsea Cameron

Summary:

Two years ago, when Ivy Emerson bailed from the tiny fishing village she’d grown up in to go to Columbia, Sawyer McCallister was the only thing she was sad to leave behind, and she still didn’t look back. But when her mother guilts her into coming home for Christmas, she crashes headfirst into Sawyer, who’s also returned after being away.

Now that they’ve both been dragged back to Saltwater, Maine, they might just realize it’s where they belong. Together.

Review:

Tears, there were tears. Even though this was a short story, it was great. Everything about it was so gritty and real. The author did an awesome job portraying a couple not over each other.
I wasn't expecting much from this going in and I loved it. The characters blended and the life lessons were there. Sigh, Sawyer :)
Overall, if you're looking for a great little Christmas story, Christmas Catch is just what you need. It gets five glittery stars for putting so much emotion into a wonderful little package.

EXCERPT FROM CHRISTMAS CATCH:

“Need some help?” This is not happening.
I turn around slowly. The first thing I see is a truck I haven’t seen since high school. The second is the guy I haven’t seen since high school.
“Ivy?” His hair’s a little longer, and his face is a little leaner. He looks . . . older. But his eyes. They’re still the same.
“Sawyer,” I whisper, because I can’t believe it’s him. What the hell is he doing here?
A car drives behind Sawyer, honks, and he waves them on. The two of us are frozen, unable to move. At least I am. He recovers first.
“I have a chain in the back. I can get you out of there.”
“Okay,” I say as he pulls in front of my car and then gets out. He seems taller, but that can’t be. He’s wearing a thick blue Carhartt jacket, torn jeans and work boots. He moves to the back of the truck and gets a chain out, which he hooks to the tow hook on the back of my car and then to his truck. He hasn’t said a word.
“Okay, get in,” he says and I get back in my car. With a minimum of revving of his engine and mine, we get my car out of the ditch. I get out to thank him.
Instead, I say, “What are you doing back here?” He wraps up the chain and doesn’t meet my eyes.
“My dad died,” he says as he tosses the chain in the bed of the truck. “Bye, Ivy.” And as quickly as he appeared, he’s gone, and the only remnant of is being here is the cloud of exhaust from his truck.
I slump against my car and raise my head. Snow is just starting to fall, melting as soon as it hits the pavement.
This goddamn town.

Review of Moonlight by Katie Salidas

Good girls don’t wear fur, or fight over men, and they certainly don’t run around naked, howling at the moon.

But then, no-one ever called Fallon a good girl.

As a human unofficially mated to an Alpha werewolf, Fallon is being pressured to “become”...or be gone.

Her mate Aiden, the interim leader of the Olde Town Pack, is in a position that demands he either choose a wolf mate...or leave the pack forever. No matter how hot the sex with Fallon is, he can’t ignore centuries of tradition.

Become a wolf or not. If only the choice were that simple. Fallon’s options are further clouded by the overt presence of other females desperate to be the Alpha’s mate. And when these bitches get serious, it’s not just claws that come out. If Fallon wants to keep her man and take the title she’ll have to exert a little dominance of her own.

Review:

I enjoyed this short read by Katie Salidas. It was fun, sexy and full of action.

I haven't read the rest of the books in the series, but liked this book enough to go back and pick them up. I'm interested to know more about the supporting characters.

The only thing I didn't like about the book, was how wishy-washy Fallon was. She was so indecisive for part of the book and I wanted to shake her. Aiden, well let's just say yummy!

The plot was interesting and I didn't put the book down once I started reading it. This was a fun read for those werewolf lovers out there, or just fans of the series.

This book get's four glittery stars for it's awesomeness!
