Release and review of Must Love Lions by Alma Black

Alexis Parrish is very single. Sassy and smart, she's great at her job as a journalist, but it's never given her the time to find the right man--specifically, a human. So when she gets assigned to interview Max, a lion shifter, about the new dating app he's created, she can't believe her intense attraction to him. After all, humans and shifters don’t date. Max is used to causing trouble. He broke tradition by creating the paranormal dating app, Shifter Date, which humans and shifters alike can use to answer the call of the wild.
When Max challenges Alexis to give him a chance, she can't say no. A human like her has no business with this handsome alpha lion, but she can't resist his magnetism. Their chemistry is primal, their connection positively animalistic. After all, once you go shifter, you never go back.
But when a rogue shifter group against interspecies dating targets Alexis, Max will stop at nothing to protect her. It's more than his pride on the line; it's his mate.
Warning: Must Love Lions is a paranormal shape-shifter romance. If sassy, sexy, and carnal reads aren't your thing, this book isn't for you. It contains lots of hot sex, a bit of violence, and a lot of witty banter.

Review:
This was a short but fun read by debut author Alma Black. She will quickly make a name for herself in the indie publishing industry with her whitty writing. Must Love Lions was a good story about mates. It wasn't insta-mates. While one knew, it wasn't the overbearing factor in the plot. In other words, the character didn't drivel on and on about being mates. It was acknowledged and Alma moved on.
The main characters Max and Alexis were likeable and kept me interested. While Max was an alpha shifter, he wasn't pushy and dominating to the point everything was about him. Alexis was strong and independent, but she had enough resolve to do some decent things in the book.
There was a good plot with plenty of action. I liked how the influences of predjudice weren't one-sided. It wasn't shifters hating humans or humans hating shifters. Both were present and the acts of a few aimed to keep with the current ways while others worked to bridge the gap between species.
Overall, I enjoyed Must Love Lions and you will too! It's a good shifter romance that stands apart from so many others in this genre. Steamy, mysterious, and romantic-this book has it all. Five glittery stars!
Also, kudos to the author for adding some extra fun at the end of this novel. She also created a simulated Shifter App quiz for a bit of fun and the link is also in the back of the book!
