Sunday Swoon #3

Today, I get to share a few snippets from a book I love! no spoilers!

Blurb

Ava has watched her parents, Caleb and Maggie, live the perfect fairy tale, the perfect love story, played out in front of her eyes her entire life. Her family is love, life, and happiness. The Jacobsons are everything a family should be and Ava is loved and well taken care of. But the one thing that’s missing from her life is the one thing she’s waited for every day, the one thing her kind knows will make them complete, the one thing they thought was gone and lost forever.

Her significant.

Seth has lived with the Watsons his entire life. They’re the only family he knows, but he knows that there are things they keep from him. He knows that they lie and they do unspeakable evil, things from when he was a child that he can barely remember that cling to the edges of his memory. He barely remembers his real mother and all he knows is what he’s told. He doesn’t know what to trust. He wants to believe that the Watsons love and care for him, have his best interest at heart, but isn’t so sure of that anymore when he finally—after a lifetime of waiting for her—meets his soulmate, and the Watson’s first act is to try to take her away from him.

The Virtuoso worlds collide, hearts are exposed, humans are endangered, and the lives of Seth and Ava are changed forever. They’ll have to love without judgment or reservation, they’ll have to be wise and accepting beyond their years, they’ll have to forgive for things before they’ve even happened, they’ll have to trust without seeing, have faith without knowing, and they’ll have to light their own way in the dark when everyone else is blind to show them the way. And more than anything else…

they’ll fight like hell to keep each other.

“Jealousy is when you want something that you can’t have, something that doesn't belong to you. Being protective is defending what’s yours.” He leaned in, his hand closing around my jaw as his nose skimmed up to mine. “And you better believe that I’ll be protecting what’s mine.”

“I waited for that day, for that one thing to complete me. To feel someone's heartbeat inside my chest and know that it was reciprocated. To find the one who belonged to me and could be the one to make me whole.”

“That’s something in you, something in your guts and soul, imprinted on you, something written on your heart from that first touch that doesn’t go away.”

Book Series of the Week #29

I wish wish wish Michalea Smeltzer still wrote paranormal romance! She writes new adult contemporary romance now. This is one of my favorite indie series about werewolves.

Everything is about to change for Sophie Beaumont. Sophie has moved her entire life; never staying in one place too long. She didn’t understand why… until now. Sophie is a shifter. A wolf shifter and she has a lot to learn. About being herself, being a wolf, and being what she needs to be to protect her pack. On top of that, her intense feelings for the pack’s Alpha, Caeden, threatens to ruin everything. Especially if the rival pack, the Grimms, find out that Sophie is not the human she claims to be.

Nothing will be the same for Sophie Beaumont. Now that she’s an Alpha she has to learn to be a leader. But unlike with Caeden, it doesn’t come naturally for her. Sophie doesn’t want to tell her friends how high to jump. She just wants to be normal.
Caeden and Sophie travel to Germany to meet with Sophie’s parents in the hopes of learning more about being mates and “why them?” But Sophie’s parents prove not to know much. Everything is just speculation. Then, the news of Peter Grimm’s murder sends the Williams’ pack into a tailspin. With Travis as Alpha what is he capable of?

First she was an Outsider.
Then she became an Insider.
And now… she’s going to have to be a Fighter.
Nothing goes as planned for Sophie Beaumont. She thought that Travis had been defeated. She believed that they would all finally be safe. But Travis never left. He has a plan and it's one that no one could have ever guessed. It will take everything Caeden and Sophie’s pack has to take him down and make sure his heart never beats again. This will be the greatest fight that they have ever experienced. An all out war. Who will live? And who will die?

It’s all been leading to this for Caeden and Sophie Williams. This should be the happiest time of their life. They’re married and expecting a baby, but Travis is still out there, and they both know he won’t rest until he gets what he wants. The question is, what does he want? They’ll have to figure it out if they ever want to have their happily ever after.

The end is near.

Who will be left standing when it's over?

Review of Kiss of Awakening, Seduce and Savor by Jennifer Snyder

(A Succubus Kiss Prequel Novella-currently FREE!) With one kiss, everything will change...

When a mysterious letter arrives from her estranged mother, twenty-one year old Kenna Blake and her best friend, Bree, make a trip to New Orleans hoping for a little Halloween fun and to get away. The mystifying Crescent City has something else in store for her though.

Cryptic messages, a hot tour guide, and a new sense Kenna can't seem to explain are just the beginning of this eye opening trip. Will Kenna accept what awakens with in her or will she crumble under its reality?

Review:

I read this in the original anthology called Midnight Kiss featuring Jennifer Snyder, Alyssa Rose Ivy, Sarra Cannon and Juliana Haygert. It was a really good read. All four of the author's stories were enjoyable. I liked it so much, that I have continued on reading their stories.

This introduction to the characters in the supernatural world that Jennifer created was a pleasant surprise. I can't wait to read the first book in the series! Five glittery stars!

This story originally appeared in this trilogy, but is no longer available as a bundle. Each other has their stories on Goodreads and Amazon. Some are free on Amazon, so check them out!

Book 1 in the Succubus Kiss series

Life isn’t so bad for succubus, Kenna Blake. True, she seems to be the only succubus with a conscience and a specific strategy for finding her male meals, but she has a cute new apartment, a budding graphic design business, and the most unique friends she’s ever had.

Her personal love life, however, is non-existent.

Until the legendary vampire Randal Vincent sweeps into her life. Even though he isn’t someone she set out to date, at least she can kiss him without killing him. But when you’re dating someone who’s the inspiration for Dracula, there are bound to be a few hiccups along the way…

Review:

I originally fell in love with this story after reading The Kiss of Awakening (The prequel novella). I loved the characters! I liked that they added Bree in the book, even as a small part.

Kenna has morals and that was something I really enjoyed. Randall still has me curious and so does Sage. I want to love Sage, but I feel like there might be ulterior motives there. Dex is awesome! I wish everyone could have a werewolf friend like Dex!

The only thing I didn't like about the book, was the pacing. I felt like the build up came too late and then it just stopped. There was no sort of resolution to tie everything together. I don't mean that it was just a cliffhanger. The story needed more punch throughout with some sort of resolution in the end, even if it was stopping with a cliffhanger.

Overall, I love Jennifer's writing and am looking forward to book 2! This book gets 4 glittery stars!

Book 2 in the Succubus Kiss series!

(New Adult Paranormal Romance - This is Book Two in the Succubus Kiss Series.)

Succubus Kenna Blake has been infected by a wraith…

The infection is just the beginning. As the wraith slowly gains control, Kenna must fight to keep a firm hold on her succubus nature, before she disappears completely.

Following the only clue her mother has to offer, she tracks down the infamous Luke Bloom, owner of Love Potion #9, hoping for the answers she desperately needs. Unfortunately, Luke doesn’t harbor the magic that could rid her of the wraith and save Kenna’s soul…but his twin sister, Lexy does.

The problem: Lexy Bloom relinquished her magic five years ago and went into hiding.

As Kenna finds herself plagued by nightmares created by the wraith, she vows to do whatever necessary to rid herself of its darkness. Until she learns her only escape comes in the form of a rare spell requiring a shocking cost…

Review:

I enjoyed getting to continue reading about these characters. Sage wasn't really present throughout this book. I'm still not sure how I feel about her. Randall is growing on me. Then there is Dex and yeah, he's just a great character.

This book introduced a new character that I can already tell I'm going to love. Kenna and Randall finally have a little smexy time in this installment.

I didn't like how the format of the book was the same as the first one. The story kind of went along, not a lot of action, and then, at the end, the book built up and just stopped. It was sort of a let down. I wanted to see a resolution from the first book still.

There are still so many questions that need answered. I hope book 3 comes out soon and that it resolves some of the problems. This book gets 4 glittery stars!

Waiting on Wednesday #1

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill of Breaking the Spine which spotlights highly anticipated upcoming releases.

This week I’m waiting on:

Book: Ink and Bone

Author: Rachel Caine

Release Date: July 7, 2015

YAY! Another GREAT author starting a new series! Morganville Vamps are one of my favorite series, so I'm really intrigued by this new series. I'm hoping it's fantastic!

In an exhilarating new series, New York Times bestselling author Rachel Caine rewrites history, creating a dangerous world where the Great Library of Alexandria has survived the test of time.…

Ruthless and supremely powerful, the Great Library is now a presence in every major city, governing the flow of knowledge to the masses. Alchemy allows the Library to deliver the content of the greatest works of history instantly—but the personal ownership of books is expressly forbidden.

Jess Brightwell believes in the value of the Library, but the majority of his knowledge comes from illegal books obtained by his family, who are involved in the thriving black market. Jess has been sent to be his family’s spy, but his loyalties are tested in the final months of his training to enter the Library’s service.

When he inadvertently commits heresy by creating a device that could change the world, Jess discovers that those who control the Great Library believe that knowledge is more valuable than any human life—and soon both heretics and books will burn.…

TBR Tuesday #2

TBR Tuesday # 2

My good friend Sharrice from Reese's Reviews: My Addiction to Fiction came up with the idea of 'TBR Tuesday'

If you want to join in the fun, then just do the following:
From your book shelf or your e-reader, pick a book that you own that is still on your TBR list. Post it however you want to, then leave a link below so others can see what's waiting to be read.

This week for me its:

Teardrop

by Lauren Kate

 Never, ever cry...

Seventeen-year-old Eureka won't let anyone close enough to feel her pain. After her mother was killed in a freak accident, the things she used to love hold no meaning. She wants to escape, but one thing holds her back: Ander, the boy who is everywhere she goes, whose turquoise eyes are like the ocean. And then Eureka uncovers an ancient tale of romance and heartbreak, about a girl who cried an entire continent into the sea. Suddenly her mother's death and Ander's appearance seem connected, and her life takes on dark undercurrents that don't make sense. Can everything you love be washed away?

Add it too Goodreads!

I have had this in my library FOREVER! I really want to read
it, just haven't had the time and it hasn't been the highest
priority like my ARC's are. Hopefully I'll get to it soon!

SO NOW IT'S YOUR TURN!
