Review of The Unleashing by Shelly Laurenston

WINGING IT

Kera Watson never expected to face death behind a Los Angeles coffee shop. Not after surviving two tours lugging an M16 around the Middle East. If it wasn’t for her hot Viking customer showing up too late to help, nobody would even see her die.

In uncountable years of service to the Allfather Odin, Ludvig “Vig” Rundstrom has never seen anyone kick ass with quite as much style as Kera. He knows one way to save her life—but she might not like it. Signing up with the Crows will get Kera a new set of battle buddies: cackling, gossiping, squabbling, party-hearty women. With wings. So not the Marines.

But Vig can’t give up on someone as special as Kera. With a storm of oh-crap magic speeding straight for L.A., survival will depend on combining their strengths: Kera’s discipline, Vig’s loyalty… and the Crows’ sheer love of battle. Boy, are they in trouble.

Kindle Edition, 400 pages

Review:

This is the first book I have read by this author and all I can say is WOW!!!! I've been missing out! The Unleashing was absolutely fantastic!

I liked Kera's character and she was well-written. Really though, I adored Vig and his sister Kat. They were my favorite characters in the story. Jace was interesting too.

The world building that the author wrote was extremely compelling, creative and genuinely fun to read. The characters were quirky, the Norse mythology was interesting and the romance was sweet.

This is only the first book in her new series and now I'm stuck wondering what is going to happen next. I really hope it is more Kera and Vig, because there is so much more to be told in their story.

Overall, this was a wonderful work of urban fantasy/paranormal romance. This is one you should pick up and enjoy. I highly recommend The Unleashing and look forward to reading more by this author. This book gets five glittery stars for being exactly what I was looking for in a book when I started reading it.

Review of The Hazards of Sleeping with a Friend by Alyssa Rose Ivy

Warning: Sleeping with a friend might change your life forever.

Sleeping with Kyle was never in the plans. Pretending to be his girlfriend was one thing, but letting our relationship become anything but platonic was another. The problem with mixing friendship with sex is that inevitably feelings get involved, and when that happens there's no turning back.

When Kyle's life fell apart around him, I needed to help, but doing that meant opening myself up to the most terrifying thing in the world—falling in love.

Review:

This is the fifth book in the Hazard series by Alyssa Rose Ivy. I have really enjoyed this series. Since I loved the first four, I knew this one would be just as good.

I like how the author builds on past characters to make a deeper connection between the readers and the books. It's cool to see how the new characters mesh with the old ones.

Jade and Kyle were likeable from the start. I even remember Jade coming into the story in a previous book. I liked how they picked right up where they left off with her. She still works at the radio station and is still doing the show she was picked to help out with so long ago.

There were a few twists in this book I wasn't expecting and when truths came out, it showed the flaws in the characters and how they are relate-able to other people.

Most of the story was a fun romp between the sheets with two stubborn characters that refuse to admit their true feelings.

Add this book to your must read new adult contemporary romance lists! It is sure to provide you with some fun entertainment from the best selling author, Alyssa Rose Ivy. This book gets five glittery stars for being such a great read!
