New series from author Chloe Neill: The Veil!!!!

If you are anything like me, I'm a huge Chicagoland Vampire fan! When I heard there would be another urban fantasy series from Chloe, I was super stoked! Well, tomorrow is the day!!!! The Veil, first in the Devil's Isle series, is now available for pre-order and releases tomorrow!

Seven years ago, the Veil that separates us from what lies beyond was torn apart, and New Orleans was engulfed in a supernatural war. Now, those with paranormal powers have been confined in a walled community that humans call the District. Those who live there call it Devil’s Isle.
Claire Connolly is a good girl with a dangerous secret: she’s a Sensitive, a human endowed with magic that seeped through the Veil. Claire knows that revealing her skills would mean being confined to Devil’s Isle. Unfortunately, hiding her power has left her untrained and unfocused…
Liam Quinn knows from experience that magic makes monsters of the weak, and he has no time for a Sensitive with no control of her own strength. But when he sees Claire using her powers to save a human under attack — in full view of the French Quarter — Liam decides to bring her to Devil’s Isle and the teacher she needs—even though getting her out of his way isn’t the same as keeping her out of his head.
As more and more Sensitives fall prey to their magic, and unleash their hunger on the city, Claire and Liam must work together to save New Orleans, or else the city will burn…

Review:
I just want to start by saying what a fan I am of Chloe Neill and her Chicagoland Vampire series! When I found out she was writing a new series, I was thrilled!
Okay, so I'm not a fan of dystopian, or whatever you would categorize this book as.  So, I wasn't sure about this book. Nevertheless, since this was Chloe Neill, I had to give it a try.
The story started off a little slow, but I understand that the characters and the world building had to be created first. This book was basically the set-up of the series, a get to know the characters and environment they exist in.
Once the story really got going, then WOW! It was fantastic! The New Orleans the author created was well done. The plot was creative, and it has a lot of potential as a series.
I loved all the characters. I really liked Liam and Claire the most. Claire is sassy and has a strong moral compass. Liam is just the sexy bad boy.
The biggest thing I felt this story was lacking, was romance. I'm used to a little more romance in my Chloe Neill books. There was almost none in this book, besides a little bit of tension between the two main characters.
Overall, this is another hit from Chloe Neill. I'm giving the first installment, The Veil, four glittery stars!
