August recap & ARC August

Books I read in August:

It was ARC August so I read 12 ARC's. Not too bad if I say so myself!
Total amount of books I read ended up being: 26
Amount that were audiobooks: 8

ARC's : The Consequence of Revenge, The Summer Marked, Hidden, Five Things I Love About You, Beauty and the Wolf, Turn of the Moon, Winter's Bride, Darken the Stars, Spiral of Need, Awakened, A is for Alpha Male, and Soul Corrupted.

My favorite books: Lots of great books this month. Every Last Breath, of course! But, Rebekah Purdy's Winter People books, Desni Dantone's Ignited books, Komali Da Silva's Dawn books, Darken the Stars by Amy Bartol, Spiral of Need by Suzanne Wright, and Soul Corrupted by Lisa Gail Green.

The funniest book I've read this month: The Consequence of Revenge.

I could have done without: Beauty and the Wolf, Let the Storm Break, Sublime, and Rae of Hope. They just weren't my cup of tea.

Sunday Swoon #13

Today, I get to share a few snippets from a book I love! no spoilers!

I've read the first three books as the young adult version, and decided to read the whole series in the new adult version. I'm listening to Shattered Promises on audiobook now!

Blurb

Book 1: Shattered Promises

**Mature Content Warning** 17+ for language and sexual content.
(A re-imagining of my young adult book, The Fallen Star, told as a New Adult Paranormal)

For twenty-one year-old Gemma, life has never been normal. She knows nothing about her past and has been haunted by the same monsters in her nightmares for the last few months. Unemotional and numb to life, she feels disconnected from everyone. Until the very first day she cries. After that, nothing in her life is the same.
Her emotions slowly surface and she starts experiencing love, happiness, and anger, feelings she never knew existed. But they leave her confused and she doesn’t know whether to embrace them or run away from them.
Her life only gets more complicated when she meets Alex. Sexy, arrogant, and secretive, Alex can get under Gemma’s skin like no one can. Yet she’s drawn to him by an invisible connection she has no control over. She’s also seen him before. In her nightmares.
Every part of Gemma’s mind is screaming at her to stay away from Alex, but every other part of her is begging to get close to him. But the closer she gets, the more she realizes Alex knows more about her than he originally let on.
As secrets about her past unravel, Gemma’s life becomes threatened. She needs to figure out what’s going on, before she winds up dead. But the only person she can turn to for answers is the one person she isn’t sure she can trust.

Book 2: Fractured Souls

“I can’t seem to take my eyes of the patch of skin that shows when he raises his hand to run his fingers through his hair, making his shirt ride up a little.”

“His teeth gently nick at my skin and it stings a little, but feels amazingly good at the same time; like some kind of euphoric venom dancing threw my veins.”

“Do you know how hard it was?” he breathes, his palm resting on my neck, his thumb smoothing across the sensitive area. “I’m sorry you had to do that.” I place my finger over a small hole in his chest where one of the tubes was embedded. “I really am, especially since you had to go there pretty much for nothing.” He shakes his head. “Not that… I’ve already told you that pain isn’t a big deal.” He brushes his lips across mine. “Being away from you… it gets harder and harder… I swear to God it actually feels like I’m dying.” I don’t know what to say at his honestly raw admittance and he doesn’t give me time as he crashes his lips against mine.”

“The electricity devours my soul, fractures it open, and leaves it vulnerable and exposed.”

Stacking the Shelves #153

Stacking the Shelves is a meme hosted by Tynga at Tynga's Reviews, that features books I've received/purchased/borrowed during the current week.

This is actually one of the weeks I got the least amount of books! I'm not sure what I'm looking forward to yet, probably reading Bitterroot, and listening to Don't Look Back by Jennifer L. Armentrout.

September is for Sequels Challenge

September is for Sequels is hosted by Lisa @ Lisa Loves Literature. I definitely need to hop on this one! I am notoriously bad at reading sequels and finishing series. I get so many shiny new books that I get distracted by. It's not that I don't WANT to continue with these series, I am just so bad at waiting, and when the sequels finally come out, I end up buried under piles of new books. So, September sounds like a great month to focus on a few much anticipated sequels!

Objective:

To read and review a minimum of 4 sequels between the dates of September 1st and 30th

My goal for this challenge is: 20
(I know, what am I thinking???)

I have 40 sequels on my shortlist to be read.
Since I can't choose what I will be in the mood for, I will show all of them.

(BTW I already own all of these except: Craft by Lacey Weatherford, Salvaged Souls by Desni Dantone, and Loving Ean by Elle Christiansen; the first two come out in September and the third one I just have to one click still.)

I start this craziness on September 1st!

Rules:
  • The book must be a sequel - it can be any # in the series, just not the first book.  Prequels can count if they were published AFTER the first one in the series.  You can do e-books, even ARCs or e-galleys, as well as good old fashioned books.  And, I'll even let you count the little 1.5 novellas that are often published as e-books only.
